MCUSD will take action on MMS closure

Jill Ballinger/GAZETTE EDITOR

After months of taking public input and discussing ideas, it appears the Mariposa County Unified School District Board of Trustees is poised to take action on the closure of Mariposa Middle School. The item is slated for action on the agenda for tomorrow night.

The board will also consider the closure of Coulterville High School by relocating students to Lake Don Pedro Elementary School and will hear about transportation reductions for next year.

One bright spot on the board's agenda is the restoration of a number of teachers who received layoff notices. Those include the three ROP instructors at Mariposa County High School who teach agriculture, fire science and multi-media classes.

The board meets in open session at 6:25 p.m. at the district office.
