Sports schedules changed

Due to field conditions after last weekend’s drenching storms, MCHS athletic teams have had to made a few adjustments.

Mariposa’s varsity baseball team traveled to Denair Wednesday afternoon. That was originally scheduled as a home game for the Grizzlies, but Denair’s Coyotes will land in Mariposa Friday afternoon instead.

The Grizzlies will enter the contest with a 1-0 Southern Athletic League mark after opening league play last Wednesday afternoon with a resounding 12-6 victory over visiting Ripon Christian. The contest last Friday was rained out.
A nine-run first inning paced Mariposa to its opening victory. It added three unneeded runs in the fifth inning and hammered out nine hits for the game.

Tuesday afternoon’s girls’ softball and soccer contests were cancelled due to field conditions.

On Thursday, both teams will travel to Gustine for SAL matches, and Friday, both squad will travel to Waterford to make up for last week’s rain-outs.

Last Wednesday, the Lady Grizzlies opened their league campaign with a solid 10-0 win over Denair.

The soccer team humbled Denair the same afternoon, 9-0 to move its SAL mark to 2-0.

Tuesday’s cancelled games against Delhi have yet to be rescheduled.
