Tourism bureau's Hentz heads for Florida

Yosemite/Mariposa County Tourism Bureau's Jeffrey Hentz will start a new job in Florida next month, he said on March 17.

Hentz will speak briefly to the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors about his move on Tuesday, March 20.

Over the past three years, Hentz built a national reputation for the Yosemite/Mariposa bureau.

On March 16, the Halifax Area Advertising Authority voted unanimously to hire Hentz for the top position at the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is scheduled to start on April 30.

Hentz is from Florida and attended college in the state. "I am going to sincerely miss this great community," Hentz said of Mariposa County. "(I'll miss) its kind and caring people and amazing destination as a whole."

After some debate, Hentz's new bosses set his starting salary at $135,000 with $20,000 in annual bonuses possible, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.
