Vincent John ‘Dutch’ Walz

And the Walz come tumbling down…

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Vincent John “Dutch” Walz announces the passing of its beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He is at peace now and the family members are grateful for that, but it was too soon.

Dutch was born May 12, 1928, and died the morning of Dec. 26, 2011. He was able to spend one last Christmas with those that loved him most. The family is grateful for that too.

He left behind his devoted wife of almost 60 years, Peggy Walz; his three children, Monte Walz, Roxanne Cowan (Charles) and Jana Keelen (Skip Smith); his grandchildren, LeAnne Cowan and Charlie Cowan; his beloved extended families in Minnesota and Texas, and a hillside full of cherished friendships (man and beast).

He was a 60-year member of IBEW Local 332 San Jose as a journeyman wireman. He was a recent member of Lake Don Pedro Golf Course men’s club.

In the last years he lived a peaceful life doing the things he wanted like fishing and frogging with family and friends, scouting flea markets to pick up pieces and parts to add to his crafts and collections, and continue to build his “Walz of Rock” hillside garden.

His garden is done, and the last of the rocks are placed.

A celebration of his life is scheduled Jan. 7 at the Lake Don Pedro Hacienda, La Grange and Bonds Flat Roads at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family asks everyone to feed the birds in his honor, or make a donation to any wildlife foundation.
