Daniel Johnson III

Daniel Robert Johnson III was born Dec. 21, 1943, at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles to Daniel and Ruth Johnson. He entered into rest in Madera with his wife by his side on Dec. 14.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children,

Daniel IV and Landis; and sisters, Sharon Wagner and Julie Moreno of San Leandro.

He worked in the aerospace industry for 35 years. His projects included working on the space shuttle and Boeing C-17. Early on, he was involved with computers and loved the “techy” aspect of everything.

Early in the 1960s, he became involved in ham radio and held an extra class license and vanity call letters K6JH. He retired from the aerospace industry in 2000, and in 2002, he and Marilyn moved to Mariposa to enjoy retired life.

When Huell Houser came to town in 2002, he and Marilyn were interviewed as Mariposa’s newest residents. He and Marilyn own “Our Country Home,” a gift and antique shop, in downtown Mariposa. He loved going into the shop and talking to people.

His familiar face will be missed by all of downtown Mariposa.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. at Mariposa Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mariposa Cemetery.
