I just found out the sad

I just found out the sad news. Mary was my first cousin and we started school together in Ottawa. I don't recall her being in my kindergarten class, but she was definitely in my second grade class and I have First Communion photos of the two of us together. I was very fond of Mary and I was proud to have her as my cousin. She was always confident and she was always in a cheerful frame of mind. I think I recall the day that she joined our class because we had been reciting a poem that Mary was already familiar with. She basically put her hand up and told the teacher that the poem was actually a song and she could sing it for us. The teacher agreed and Mary sang the poem. It had a catchy Irish melody that got everyone's attention. From then on, the class always sang the poem. I remember missing her and the rest of the family when they moved to California, When someone injects so much life into a situation, they leave a large void behind them. Chris Turner, Canada
