Betty Keller

Betty Keller, beloved wife of 67 years to Elmer Keller, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, with her family and friends by her side.

She was a devoted mother to Trudy Keller, and Bill Keller (Ray); loving grandmother to Wendi Baker, and Ward Quayle (Linda); loving great grandmother to Ryan Baker, Steven Quayle and Danielle Dykes. She had two surviving sisters, Etta Mae (Mamie) Gonzalez and Pat Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Keller; her daughter, Judy Keller; and her parents, Alva and Augusta Haigh; and her sisters, Alva Turner and Athene Donald.

She was very active in her community helping to start the History Center of which she was a charter member. She worked hard to raise money and get the Coulterville Methodist Church built.

Betty was a cook for the California Department of Forestry and worked on the Penon Blanco lookout as a fire spotter. She also worked for the local school district. She loved to cook for family and friends,work in the yard, and do needle and stitchery work.The Keller house was a hangout for all the kids in town. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Coulterville Methodist Church.The family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Northern Mariposa County History Center, 10301 Highway 49, Coulterville, CA 95311.
