Richard F. Adams

A native San Franciscan, Rich passed away at the family home after a courageous battle with cancer, his family and faithful pets by his side, on July 27.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Adams; and is survived by his devoted mother, Gloria; and his loving brothers and sister, Dave (Luisa), Bill and Pat Murphy (Jim); and numerous adoring nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Cricket and cat, Mack.

Rich attended St. Philip’s Grammar School, Sacred Heart High School and graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco. Rich served in the U.S. Army in Germany for three years. He then made a career as a gardener in Golden Gate Park where he worked 32 years tending not only plants but also nurturing beautiful, lifelong friendships. Rich especially enjoyed the group work parties at Camp Mather.

Upon retirement, Rich fulfilled his cherished dream of living as a gentleman rancher in the country and spent 11 happy years at his Lazy R Ranch in Mariposa where he was active in the American Legion Post 567.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at The American Legion Hall, 5117 Bullion Street, Mariposa, CA 95338 (corner of 12th St and Bullion St.).
