Barbara Bolton

Barbara Bolton, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, passed away on Aug. 8 with her children by her side. She was 79 years old, born Feb. 22, 1932 in Mariposa County.

She went to cosmetology school in Merced in the late 1970s, and then work at John C. Fremont Hospital from 1979 to 1989. She loved going to the casinos, cooking, collecting books, and taking rides up to the mountains to pick berries for canning. It didn’t matter what kind of seed it was, she would plant it, and it would grow. She enjoyed watching the Miwuk softball games, and also loved to watch her grandchildren dance at the Pow Wows.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Pearl Cabezut; brothers, Simon Cabezut, Jr. and Joe Cabezut; and sister, Nadin Wass.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Cabezut of Ukiah; her five children, Richard Bolton, Sr. of Willits, Dennis Bolton, Nancy Dondero and Rita Long of Mariposa; and Debra Bolton of Astoria, Ore. She will also be greatly missed by 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed visiting with many friends under the “old oak tree.”
