Francis O. Pierce

Francis O. Pierce, known as Webb to his friends, went to be with the Lord on July 15 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Webb was born the fourth of six children on Oct. 26, 1936, in Westgrove, Penn. to Paul Philip Pierce and Marguerite Rebecca Kiale Pierce. He joined the military in 1959 and was stationed in California where he married the love of the life, Lois McCormick in August, 1962. He proudly served a year in Vietnam, and later moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a mechanic on Air Force One and had their only daughter, Anna Marie. The Air Force took them all over the world, including Germany. Upon retiring in 1976, after 21 years of service, they settled in Cathey’s Valley, and Webb worked as a mechanic at Sierra Motors in Mariposa. Webb was a very active man who loved working in his garden, attending church and raising cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Paul David Pierce. He will forever be loved and remembered by his survivors, his wife of almost 49 years, Lois; his daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Jeffery Richardson; seven grandchildren, Hope, Tyler, Dylan, Emma, Isabel, Brayden and Coleman; and one great-grandchild, Brody.

Services will be held Friday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at Mariposa Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at Cathey’s Valley Cemetery.
