Anne Owen

Anne Owen, 72, passed away on July 14, in Fresno, from complications of Multiple Sclerosis. She was born the youngest of five children to Charles F. Whiston and Estelle Reed on Nov. 26, 1939.

Anne was a resident and active member of the Mariposa community for over 32 years where she was a beloved teacher for the Mariposa County Unified School District, teaching English and theatre arts. She loved teaching and mentoring students of all ages, especially middle school students where she spent most of her efforts over the years. Her sense of humor, no nonsense approach, and compassion endured her to all.

Anne is survived by her husband John A. Owen Jr. of Fresno; son, Robert Owen of Mariposa; and daughter, Tracy Cheek of Ahwahnee. At her request, no services will be held.
