Norman Richard Chonle

Long time resident Norman Richard (Dick) Chonle passed on to his next adventure on Feb. 8, in Vancouver, WA. Richard was born in Tucumcari, NM Feb. 8, 1938, to Norman I. and Esther Lucille (Lovejoy) Chonle.

He leaves his first and last love, Patricia; brother, Mike Chonle of Denver, CO; his sister, Shannon Dorsey of Portland, OR; daughters, Cathryn Nolan, Beth Maryan, and Allison Isola, all of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Corbin Nolan, Bobby and Nicholas Maryan, Anthony and Isabella Isola; niece, Erin Dorsey; and nephew, Bret Dorsey of Portland, OR. Many friends all over the United States and in Mexico will mourn his passing. His mother, father and brother, Dan, preceeded him in death.

Richard was a true gourmand. His talent for cooking was shared with his many friends and consumed with gusto. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, nature, sports and anything to do with mind games. An extremely intelligent guy he worked the New York Times crossword with black ink and seldom missed one word. He loved to beat the contestants on Jeopardy.

Richard's last wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered in various places. His online obituary may be found at www.anewtradition.com. Richards Celebration of Life will take place at Miner's Inn Banquet room on Sunday, April 3, beginning at 2 p.m. People are urged to bring pictures of themselves and Richard. They could leave them with Theresa Tilton at Miner's before the date if convenient. It will be a potluck with coffee, punch and hors d'oeuvres provided.
