Craig Harper

Craig was born on Nov. 4, 1948 in Denison, TX. He grew up in Escondido, and graduated from Escondido High School. He played basketball, ran track, and was an all-league football player.

After moving to Mariposa in 1980, he became a friend, mentor, and colleague to many in the construction industry. His work ethic and artistic talents touched the hearts of many and can be seen in a multitude of projects throughout Mariposa County. He considered himself lucky to work in Yosemite National Park, throughout the Valley and at the High Sierra camps.

Craig was devoted to Wyrinda, his wife of 34 years; and to his sons, Morgan and Sloan.

His friends and his Sierra Masonry family knew him to be dedicated and hard working, as well as fun loving, caring and generous. Craig believed in giving back to this community he so loved. He coached Little League, served on the board, and umpired for many years.

He was a long-time supporter of Grizzly sports and the Mariposa Junior Livestock Auction. He loved music and supported Music on the Green.

After retiring, he spent his time enjoying his favorite things, working on his property, traveling with his wife, and fishing with his boys and many friends. Plans for a celebration of Craig’s life are pending. Memorial contributions may be made to Mariposa County High School Grizzly athletics.
