Joan E. Tune

Joan Elizabeth Tune, born in Stockton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 23, at the age of 81, at Oak Terrace Memory Care, in Soulsbyville, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a long-time resident of Coulterville. Joan had a strong love of the outdoors, nature and animals. During her early years, she was an avid skier and was a member of the ski patrol. She then worked as an EMT II, for Riggs Ambulance Service. She was proactive in establishing ambulance service in the North Side area as well as a water and sewer system in Coulterville. She was an active participant in establishing the Northern Mariposa Historical Center. While serving on the original Coulterville Town Planning Council, she helped establish the Mariposa County General Plan. She also served on the Mariposa Grand Jury.

She is survived by her husband, Wilson E. Tune; daughter, Deborah LeBeau (Lane); sons, Ronald Tune and David Tune (Donna); and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, in Coulterville on Saturday, Jan. 29. Reception to follow.
