Officials blew it, game can't end in a tie

CIF rules abolished ties
By Dan Tucker, Gazette Publisher

As officials walked off the field in Newman Friday night with the score tied at 14 between Mariposa and Orestimba, they thought they were done for the evening.

According to CIF rules, they basically walked off the job.

When the CIF changed its playoff format to be based on greatest number of wins, it also eliminated tie games. Therefore, Friday night's non-league clash isn't over, it has to be completed with a winner and a loser.

A neutral site will probably be selected to restart the game at the end of the second overtime session. Watch this site for an announcement of when and where the game will be completed.
