Project Respect seeks coaches at two schools

Project Respect has announced two job openings at schools around Mariposa County. The organization is offering positions at Mariposa Elementary School and the Yosemite Valley School.

Mariposa County Project Respect (MCPR) is a community wide effort to end bullying in Mariposa County. To that end, MCPR is committed to creating a safe, trusting, community environment of mutual support, kindness and respect.

Last school year, two schools (Lake Don Pedro School and Mariposa Elementary School) were chosen as demonstration sites for Project Respect. One aspect of being chosen as a demonstration project was having a Project Respect coach on their school campus. The Project Respect coaches were so successful last year, each elementary and middle school campus will have a coach this year.

The job duties of a Project Respect coach are diverse, but really focus on working with students to recognize bullying and coach students involved in a bullying situation to come up with solutions to prevent future problems.

Anyone who would like more information on these positions can visit www.mariposarespect. com for a full job description and application. Please send any inquires to alison@ mcs4you.org.

Applications are due Sept. 16, and can be turned in by email or to the Mountain Crisis Services office.
