Gazette Photos by Dan Tucker Fire fighters extinguish the structure fire on Charles Street Saturday morning. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010-Just after 10 a.m. this morning, fire fighters responded to the 5100 block of Charles Street to battle a carport blaze that threatened residences.

At the scene it appeared that the adjacent residence had been scorched but had not sustained substantial damage. The carport was destroyed and the vehicle parked in it is probably beyond repair.

Fire fighters quickly contained the blaze in a clustered area of housing in the middle of Mariposa. Residents surrounded the scene and watched as fire fighters controlled the fire.
