Pot plant count grows

On Thursday, Sept. 2, the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Stanislaus National Forest and the Mariposa County Probation Department, investigated a large marijuana garden in the Bull Creek area of Greeley Hill. The illegal garden is believed to be related to Mexican drug organizations and was eradicated from Forest Service public land. Officers removed 7,456 marijuana plants along with supplies and trash related to the operation.

To date 184,349 illegal marijuana plants have been eradicated by local officers in Mariposa County.
