Plans begin for 2010 Christmas Home Tour

2010-09-02 / Local News

The Mariposa County Friends of the Library (FOL) are looking for homes to add to the Christmas Home Tour for this year. The tour has been officially renamed the “Ken and Alice Meriam Christmas Home Tour” in honor of the couple’s past efforts in starting and maintaining the tour for so many years.

This December will usher in the 19th annual home tour. Past tours have included a mix of traditional, contemporary, and sometimes very unique homes, in addition to B & Bs and local businesses. While new contemporary homes and those with spectacular views are always fun, the tour is about the holidays and the willingness of people to open up their homes for a good cause.

FOL would like to hear from anyone about adding their home to this year’s tour. Homeowners with a desire to join in the fun and share the holidays with others, should contact Oralee Phillips at 966- 2740 or Trent Williams 966- 2250. The FOL can provide assistance in the planning, decorating and hosting of you home.

The tour will take place Saturday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, December 5, 2010, from noon to 4 p.m. The ticket price is $12 per person, and tickets will be available on Nov. 1.

The tour is a nice way to get into the holiday spirit and see your friends and neighbors homes. By taking part, community members assist the FOL in raising funds to continue their efforts in supporting the Mariposa County libraries. Events like the tour provide funds for purchasing books, CDs, videos, furniture, and equipment, in addition to supporting various libraryreading programs.
