Catnip Society gets PetSmart grant

2010-09-02 / Local News

Catnip Society, Inc. received a $7,438 grant from PetSmart Charities recently to expand its spay/neuter program and offer free spay/neuter services for feral and free roaming cats in and around Mariposa. The service through this grant will include ear-tip (feral marker) and rabies vaccination.

Dr. Eileen Bissmeyer will be volunteering her services and the grant will help defray the costs of nurses, anethesia and supplies. If you know of a feral cat colony within the 95338 zip code and are interested in having it included in the program, call the Catnip message line at 742-1023 and a representative will return the call.

Catnip Society is a local, all volunteer organization founded in 2007 for the purpose of furthering more humane treatment of cats and kittens in Mariposa and the surrouding area. Since its inception, it has rescued and found good homes for countless cats and kittens and facilitated the spay/neuter of over 1,200. It is a non-profit organization.
