Local hero fights for Children's Hospital
On Sept. 25, "Champion's For Children" will be the first annual Mixed Martial Arts event produced by PureCombat on behalf of Children's Hospital Central California. This event will be benefiting the hospital’s fund raising campaign, Children are Champions.
The non-profit hospital embraced the idea that the fans and sponsors of Mixed Martial Arts would also embrace this $42 million “Campaign for Children's.”
Mariposa resident Josh Miranda will be representing Team Kihon of Oakhurst. Miranda is an Iraqi War veteran who served his country faithfully for two years. After his return from duty, Miranda picked up where he left off with his MMA training and entered into an amateur event held by Pure- Combat. This event was May 2, 2009 in Fairfield at the Travis Air Force Base. Although Miranda was in the infantry, he said that he was proud to be fighting in front of his fellow service members.
Miranda is a new father and is equally proud to be part of this 12th PureCombat event, “Champions For Children.”
