Bust brings plant total to 171,000

On Aug. 17, Mariposa County law enforcement personnel completed a two-day marijuana eradication operation. Personnel from the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, Probation Department, Sierra National Forest and Merced Street Team eradicated four gardens in the Feliciana and Buckingham Mountain areas of Mariposa County.

Due to the remote location and rugged terrain surrounding the gardens, personnel were deployed into the garden via STABO (Stabilized Tactical Airborne Body Operations).

During the operation a total of 21,073 live marijuana plants were removed and destroyed by personnel.

Eradication efforts have resulted in the destruction of 173,891 marijuana plants so far this year.
