Three killed in multi-vehicle crash in Midpines

On August 14, 2010 at approx. 3:13 P.M. the California Highway Patrol and Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported multi-vehicle accident on Highway 140 in the Midpines area of Mariposa County. Arriving units determined that the accident involved three vehicles (two vehicles and one motorcycle) with multiple fatalities and injuries.

            Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and four victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. The exact extent of injues for the four surviving victims is unknown.

          The three victims who were fatally injured have been identified as:

            Sharon Law, 55 Years of Age from El Portal
            Deana Smith, 39 Years of Age from Chowchilla
            Michael Smith, 43 Years of Age from Chowchilla

          The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

I worked with Sharon 27 years ago. She was fun, sweet, caring, hard-working, and very special. It was always a pleasure to bump into her. We will all miss her dearly.
