Sheriff’s Dispatch Log

Aug. 2: •An assault was reported in Mariposa. •A bobcat was seen at Lake Don Pedro Elementary School. •Kittens were in distress on Circle Drive. •Bullying was reported at the County Park. •There was a bear problem on Lakeside Drive. •A loud music complaint ended with an arrest at the Comfort Inn.

Aug. 3: •Someone called to complain about loud voices on the Mariposa Creek Walkway. •Bank fraud was reported on Ben Hur Road. •A vehicle was vandalized on Evergreen Lane. •Deputies took a child abuse report at Lake McClure.

Aug. 4: •There was a disturbance in Jerseydale. •Deputies took a child molestation report at John C. Fremont Hospital. •An opossum attack was reported on Peg Leg Road. •There was a verbal dispute on Highway 49 North.

Aug. 5: •Dogs were on Triangle Road. •A bear was in a chicken coop on Lakeside Drive. •Dogs were running at large on Cedar Avenue. •Deputies took a child molestation report on Silva Road.

Aug. 6: •A suspicious circumstances report ended with an arrest in El Portal. •A purse was stolen in Mariposa. •There was a bear problem in Bear Valley. •Wild turkeys were causing problems on Mueller Road. •Someone called because he could “smell something dead” on St. Andrew’s Road.

Aug. 7: •Dogs were in a trash can on Esperance Lane. •A donkey was in distress on Holtzel Road. •A drunk driver was reported on Highway 140 in Midpines. •There was an injured hawk near the airport. •Teenagers were stuck on the dam at Lake McClure.

Aug. 8: •Someone was brandishing a weapon at Briceburg. •A bear returned to a home on Highway 49 North. •A person was being held against his will on Ranchito Drive. •There was a domestic dispute on Campbell Way. •A possible prowler was reported at Cathey’s Valley Elementary School.

The above listed calls are actual reports to Mariposa County Sheriff’s Dispatch. These are just a sampling of last week’s calls, but are in no way all inclusive. The intent of this log is to demonstrate the wide array of issues with which Mariposa County law enforcement must deal, in addition to investigation of serious crimes and their routine patrol.
