Pennas celebrate 50 years of marriage

VIC AND JOY PENNA VIC AND JOY PENNA Joy and Victor Penna, long-time residents of Mariposa, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Vic and Joy have been a major part of the community for years and actively participate in supporting the local sports programs. Vic has been a school bus driver for years, in various capacities, which has allowed them to enjoy and participate actively in supporting local teams. His sports field trips are one of his favorite “jobs” and has even volunteered to be a bus driver for the teams to show his continued support.

Joy, besides being a wife and mom worked not only at the Foster Farms turkey ranch for some time many years ago, but enjoyed being a swim instructor for years and helping children as well. Being an active mom and supporter of her family and sons was the highest priority. With the couple being originally from Laguna both have a love of the beach and many long-time friends come from Laguna often who also enjoy visiting the Penna Ranch but their life, love and family are rooted in the Mariposa mountains.

Vic and Joy were blessed with two sons. Their son Terry and his wife, Sharon, live in Colorado and are hosting this celebration, along with their two sons, Christopher and Stephen, who are their grandparents’ pride and joy. The couple’s youngest son, Stephen, is with the family in spirit and is always a part of the family despite his passing many years ago

On Aug. 14, friends and family will all join together at their campground affectionately named “The Redneck Riviera” at the Penna Ranch to celebrate this life-long love and marriage.
