July 26: •A stop sign was down on Fourth Street. •A steer was loose on Bear Valley Road. •There was a bear problem on East Whitlock Road. •Someone was concerned about a skinny horse at Eighth and Bullion Streets. •Shooting was reported on Rancho Vista Drive.

July 27: •There was a vegetation fire on Hornitos Road. •A deer was stuck in a well at Fourth Street and Highway 140. •A cat was stuck in a tree on St. Andrew’s Road. •Someone was shot by a bb gun on Pilot Peak Road. •A campfire was reported on Ponderosa Wa y.

July 28: •A gate was stolen on Hirsch Road. •A motorcycle went down on Penon Blanco Road. •A baby was locked in a car on Jones Street. •There was a disturbance at the intersection of Highways 140 and 49 North.

July 29: •A drunk person was arrested at the Miner’s Inn. •There was a bear on Whitlock Road. •A bear was in a yard on Bear Valley Road. •A disturbance on Fifth Street ended with an arrest.

July 30: •There was an injured fawn on Indian Peak Road. •A vehicle was on fire on Darrah Road. •A fire in a stove was reported on Bear Creek Drive. •Threats were investigated on Ben Hur Road.

July 31: •Cattle were loose on West Whitlock Road. •There was a fight on Highway 49. •A jet ski was out of bounds at Lake McClure. •Explosions or shooting were reported on Dogtown Road.

Aug. 1: •A domestic dispute ended with an arrest at the Miner’s Inn. •A jet skier was speeding at Lake Mc- Clure. •A woman was flagging cars down near Bear Creek Cabins. •A drunk driver was reported in Bootjack.

The above listed calls are actual reports to Mariposa County Sheriff’s Dispatch. These are just a sampling of last week’s calls, but are in no way all inclusive. The intent of this log is to demonstrate the wide array of issues with which Mariposa County law enforcement must deal, in addition to investigation of serious crimes and their routine patrol.
