Trio explains Grizzly Stadium project at Rotary
Mariposa Rotarians last Thursday heard about Grizzly Stadium from supporters Dan Tucker, Bob Kelly, and Alan Dayhoff. The impetus behind Grizzly Stadium is manifold, from providing a venue for young people to engage in sports activities to solidifying Mariposa's financial position. The need for the stadium may seem obvious, but the wide array of benefits which will accrue to Mariposa upon its completion are less well known.
A new stadium in Mariposa promises not only to reduce cost to the schools (they currently rent certain facilities for school-related activities,) but to bring a new class of sports activity directly to Mariposa. Finals, CIF playoffs, soccer, Southern Athletic League activities, and other draws will bring students and their families to the county for activities that many times will require their stay - and increased benefit to an array of businesses including motels and restaurants, and curio/collector entrepreneurs.
Nothing comes free, save for the man hours donated by organizations including Mariposa County Contractors Association (MCCA) and others, and certain materials from local businesses. A drive is underway to raise funds to push each phase of this project forward. Grand sponsorship is available to a coveted large donor as well as a plethora of lesser sponsorships including pledges over time, personalized or memorial pavers which will line the entrance, and more. For further information, or to make a donation, call Tucker at 966-2500 or consult with any member of the MCCA.
