Women invited to River Creek tourney
NANCY HAYS, LEFT, AND ANGELA PETERS START THEIR FUN DAY OF GOLF WITH ANGELA’S FANCY GOLF CART.
Members of the River Creek Women’s Golf Club are inviting area women to a nine-hole scramble golf tournament on Saturday, July 24. Any women who want to get acquainted with golf or brush up on their game are welcome to attend.
Linda Shepler, captain of the women’s club said, “This is just a casual golf event where women can come out and play without being worried that their game isn’t up to par. In a scramble format each woman in the foursome tees off and the best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The format continues on each shot until the ball is holed. It doesn’t matter if a player hits a lousy shot, usually someone in the foursome hits a good one. It’s a fun format involving lots of laughs.”
This is a chance for working women and others to play with an organized women’s golf club on a weekend. A special price of $15 for golf and an electric cart has been arranged at River Creek Golf Course. Check in by 8 a.m. for the 8:30 a.m. tee time and play should finish by 10:45 a.m., beating the heat.
Women interested in attending this event are encouraged to sign up on the bulletin board at River Creek or call the pro shop at (559) 683-5600. For information, call Shepler at (559) 683-8408.
