Special postmark marks Yosemite quarter issuance

 The Yosemite Post Office will offer a special pictorial Yosemite National Park postmark in conjunction with the first day of issuance for the Yosemite quarter. The quarter, showing the iconic 3,000 foot tall El Capitan, is the third in the United States Mint issuance of America the Beautiful coins.

The ceremony will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010 beginning at 11 a.m. Yosemite Postmaster William Carroll will be on hand to provide pictorial postmark cancellations in front of the Yosemite Village Visitors Center. In addition to the cancellation there will be music, cake and an opportunity to purchase up to $100 in new Yosemite quarters.

Following the ceremony, Carroll will be honored for his 40 years of dedicated service to the United States Postal Service.
