Erickson family hosts photo workshops
The Erickson family announces two photography workshops to be held Aug. 7 and Aug. 14. These are the first of a series of photo workshops that will feature unprecedented opportunities for photographers of all levels to get up close to real working cowboys as they move horses and rope cattle in the high country near Yosemite National Park. Participants will spend their time learning from professional photographers and observing some of the west’s last working cowboys and cowgirls in the Sierra Mountains.
On Friday evening, August 6 or 13, participants will meet for orientation in Coulterville, one of California’s historic Gold Rush towns. On the Saturday morning of each workshop, photography will begin as the sun rises. Participants will have a long day to capture images as cowboys saddle their horses and display their skills in front of a majestic mountain backdrop. Rustic wooden corrals hold the cattle as the cowboys drive, sort, and rope.
After a full morning of photography, a hearty chuck wagon lunch will be served under the pine trees by the Erickson family. Participants will have unlimited access to photograph a wide range of subjects, including the rugged mountains and tranquil meadows, weathered cowboy tack, and the working cowboys. Photographers will have the opportunity to explore scenic, still life, portrait, and other genres.
Shooting will resume in the afternoon art photographer.
Participants have the choice of two separate workshops, Aug. 7 or Aug. 14 for the $250 participant fee. They should register by July 19. This workshop is for all levels of photographers.
