Red Cross trains babysitters in Oakhurst
The Central Valley American Red Cross will be sending a trainer to conduct babysitter’s training at the Boys and Girls Club of Oakhurst. A minimum of 10 girls must be pre-registered to attend, ages 11 and up. It will be held Saturday July 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The cost is $25 for members, and $55 for non-members. Lunch is included.
The balance of $30 for each member attending will be paid out of the SMART Girls Grant from Central Valley Community Bank.
The purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training course is to provide individuals, ages 11 to 15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of their parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism, basic care, safety play and first aid.
Fees cover the basic class, babysitter’s training handbook, babysitter backpack, first aid items and a contact notebook
Certification requirements are as follows:
Participants must be 11 years of age by the last scheduled date of the course; they must successfully complete all observable skills outlined in the course; and participate in all required lesson activities.
Prompt arrival for class is required. The classroom door will be locked after 10 minutes of the class start time. Students arriving after the start of class will have to reschedule. Organizers recommend wearing comfortable clothing. Snacks and lunch will be provided.
A maximum of 20 students will be allowed. If interest is high, a waiting list will be established and future classes will be scheduled.
