Sheriff's traffic sting nets arrests

On July 16, 2010 members of the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office conducted an enhanced traffic enforcement operation on Highway 140 in the Midpines and El Portal area. During the operation seven drivers were arrested for traffic related violations.

     Arrested during the operation were:  Carlos Ortiz-Zuniga, Mariposa,  unlicensed driver; Francisco Leandro-Granados,   El Portal, unlicensed driver; Ryan Clifton, Mariposa, driving on a suspended license; Francisco Vasquez-Magdaleno, Midpines,  unlicensed driver; Mario Romero-Romo, Midpines, driving on a suspended license; Jose Navarro, Winton,  driving on a suspended license; Andres Macias, Mariposa, unlicensed driver.

Bravo. We need to do more of

Bravo. We need to do more of this. They are breaking the law, driving without a license, and there might be a reason that they have no license. Thanks, Sheriffs!

I applaud the effort by

I applaud the effort by Mariposa Cty Sheriff's Department to conduct these checks. No license probably equals no insurance, and these folks need to be off of the road. Were the cars impounded? And for those who do not take a judge seriously when he or she suspends your license, hopefully a few days in jail and a nice fine will be a wake-up call. Good work MCS deputies and management. Please keep it up! Better yet, do more of it!
