Master Gardeners host plant seminar

On Wednesday, July 21, the Mariposa County Master Gardeners will host a presentation by Greg Richardson from PlantRight on planting alternatives and the impact of invasive plants. The seminar will be held at the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, located at 5100 Bullion Street, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Greg Richardson is a project associate for PlantRight, which brings together the horticultural industry with public gardens and arboreta, scientists, environmental groups and government agencies to halt the introduction of invasive plants in California.

He will be discussing the impacts of invasive plants in California and ways to protect California’s wildlands by not using invasive plants in home gardens and landscaping. He will also highlight the approach that PlantRight has taken to address the invasive plant issue through its work with the nursery industry.

There is no charge for this presentation, however space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Participants may register by dropping by the office of the University of California Cooperative Extension at 5009 Fairgrounds Road, or by calling 966-2417.
