It's final, Stetson wins

Former supervisor unseats incumbent in District 1

The Mariposa County elections office just released its final count of ballots for the June 8 primary election. Former supervisor, Lee Stetson, has defeated incumbent Brad Aborn for the District 1 supervisor seat.

Stetson's margin of victory actually expanded after the final count was announced. Before the vote-by-mail ballots that were turned in at the elections office and at the polls, and the provisional ballots were counted, Stetson held a 76-vote lead.

The final count shows Stetson with 485 votes, and Aborn with 383, a difference of 102 votes.

No comment on Stetson but

No comment on Stetson but would love to know what negative influence Marshall believes YNP has over two (one current) supervisors. From the comment I guess he believes it was better when they and we acted independently without regard for each other putting Mariposa's economy constantly at risk. Wake up Marshall, what ever Williamson Act subsidized taxes you pay are more than doubled by the TOT and sales taxes from tourists. Wake up Marshall, it is the ONLY economy Mariposa County has and the better we communicate with the NPS the better services you will get for everything from Sheriff's office to public works. Maybe we should just sue Yosemite some more like we did in 98 and 08. That really worked out well!! I for one am glad that we in Mariposa seem to have some influence on Yosemite for the first time ever.

A john muir imitator as

A john muir imitator as supervisor. Great, well do an imitation of slashing the fat retirement-CALPERS contributions in this years contracts of county employees. All county employees should pay fully for their retirements, and tax payers should not pay their way. Or eliminate the benefit!

This is just great! We again

This is just great! We again have a psuedo-actor who portrays a psuedo-environmentalist who can again be a psuedo-supervisor. Thanks to the Gazette staff for it's endorsement of Lee Stetson. You really picked a winner this time. So is the Gazette now a psudeo-newspaper? So now we have two supervisors that have an undue influence from Yosemite National Park. When does the tail start wagging the dog?
