At their annual end-ofseason meeting to vote on All-Southern Athletic League players, the league’s coaches picked Mariposa senior shortstop Jarrett Miller as the most valuable player.

Mariposa head coach Bruce Vegely, who has guided the Grizzlies to a pair of Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI championship in the last three years, was named coach of the year.

The Grizzlies landed four players on the all-league roster, all seniors.

Second baseman Tommy Stickles, catcher Kevin Foraker, and pitcher Jacob Johnson were each named all-league performers.

All four Mariposa seniors played key roles in the Grizzlies’ championship effort just under two weeks ago when they claimed the section crown by beating Golden Sierra, 5-1, at Tony Zupo Field in Lodi.

Second place Turlock Christian also placed four players on the all-league list. Waterford, which finished third in league play, had three players named, and fourth place Le Grand, along with fifth place Denair each put two players on the league roster. Cellardweller Delhi had none selected.
