Local pastor strikes ‘gold’

BY JILL BALLINGER GAZETTE EDITOR

PASTOR AND AUTHOR HENRY FALANY PASTOR AND AUTHOR HENRY FALANY T or many years, Pastor Henry Falany of the Mariposa Revival Center has been known for his work with the church and community, most especially through the service of The Lord’s Pantry, a food ministry of MRC. Now, Falany has a new claim to fame, author.

Even though the medium is different than his usual personal delivery of God’s word, Falany’s message is the same. In his new book, God, Gold & Glory! Falany chronicles what he calls “the California contribution to global outpourings and the end-time harvest.”

Falany said the decision to write the book wasn’t his. “It’s one of those things that was commissioned, recevied in prayer,” he said in a recent interview.

He and his wife, Grace, had been on a five-week preaching tour traveling from England to Hawaii in 2009. The couple sat down to watch the evening news and “the chapters started dropping into me,” he said. “The backbone of the book came to me in about a two-minute period.”

The book takes a hard look at California history, both spiritual and secular. It is the connection between the two that Falany hopes readers will take with them. “It relates to the whole world,” he said. “California has been under the hand of God in the past, present and future.”

In the book’s introduction, Falany explains his goal. “The purpose of this book is to show the secular and spiritual history of California from the view of a master plan from the Creator Himself. It is my desire to unveil and clarify the full nature of California as it relates to God and remove the embedded romance from a good story,” he wrote.

He acknowledges, however, that he is a hopeless romantic. “When I watch a good western, at

the end of the movie, the cowboy better get the girl or I’m sorry I watched,” Falany said. “From a strictly secular point of veiw, this book could be seen as over-romanticizing an age-old patter of the human race merely continuing to capture and conquer for wordly reasons.” Falany believes this to be untrue.

“God, Gold & Glory became a reality in California,” Falany said. “The spirit of God set his people on His plan for California.”

From Father Junipero Serra’s early crusade to bring Christianity to California natives, to Jedidiah Smith’s favorite possessions of a Bible and rifle, to John C. Fremont’s memorization of up to 300 Bible verses a day, Falany said the Golden State is part of God’s master plan.

The book is a 27-chapter chronicle of California’s spiritual history, something Falany said happened at warp speed, historically speaking. “Things happen faster here,” he said. “California is a plan of accelerated time of His clock.”

The Golden State “instantly shot to greatness” according to Falany, beginning with the discovery of gold. Along with that came some of the biggest ministries. Falany makes the correlation between the two. “God shows it to you in the natural, then in the spiritual,” he explained.

“Prophetic symbols have come to pass,” Falany continued. “It happened in California.” He also believes that it’s

no coincidence that some of the world’s largest ministries began or gained huge followings in California. The Four Square Church began here, as did Billy Graham’s world-wide ministry. “There is no place on the planet that can claim those ministries,” Falany explained.

The book winds its way through California history and how an “evil veil” often masks the glory of God’s plan for the state. “By a veil I mean that the evil reality is all that most people see. But the veil is not the reality,” Falany wrote. “The fact is that under all that evil there lies the most fruitful place on the planet for propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Falany said that everyone needs to remember a simple principle in regard to the perception of problems in California. “You can always tell what God is doing by by satan fights the hardest,” he said. “California is ground zero for so much darkness only because it is ground zero for explosions of God’s light.”

The book is already getting rave reviews from readers. “This book is more than encouraging,” said Julio Conrad Lampan. It inflames the reader with a desire to call fire from heaven.”

Candi MacAlpine added, “I encourage every Californian to read this book. It will encourage and bless you. It enforces God’s plan for California.”

Falany said the book is for believers. “Every revivalist will want to read this book. It will radically impact your opinion of the spiritual significance of the State of California and its importance to revival and Christianity around the world,” he said.

The book is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and on-line at www.GodGoldandGlory.com or www.MariposaRevival Center.com.
