Woodland hosts successful dinner
AARON ROSANDER, MCUSD ACTING SUPERINTENDENT AND JON TURNER RECENTLY PLAYED TO A FULL HOUSE OF STUDENTS, THEIR FRIENDS, AND FAMILIES, AT THE WOODLAND PTA'S FIRST ANNUAL BARBECUE TRI-TIP COMMUNITY DINNER. THE COMMUNITY DINNER WAS A SUCCESS WITH GOOD FOOD, LOTS OF SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY, AND GREAT ENTERTAINMENT.
Woodland Elementary School’s first community tritip barbecue spring dinner on April 30 was a success. The family-friendly dinner brought students, their friends and families, and the Mariposa community together for a Friday night while raising money for classroom enrichment.
Special guest musicians Jon Turner and MCUSD Acting Superintendent Aaron Rosander entertained the audience with jazz, rock, blues, and “Stairway to Heaven” on their guitars. Students from Woodland's after school program also performed skits and songs.
The event ended with an opportunity drawing. Young Woodland students drew names of winners for beautifully, decorated gift baskets. Each grade donated items and created baskets with themes such as movie night, chocolate, bath and body, garden, and arts and crafts.
The barbecue tri-tip dinner would not have been possible without the community support. The Woodland PTA thanks everyone who helped with event including The Mariposa Lions Club, Turner, Yosemite Management Group, LLC for tickets, Aaron Rosander, acting MCUSD superintendent; Pioneer Market, Jim Valle, Happy Burger, Sixth Street Cinema, Wendy Davis Designs, Pam Van Paul, and all the volunteers who helped to make the event a success.
