Master Gardeners hold kids’ day

The Master Gardeners of Mariposa County will have an information booth at the Farmers Market this season on the first Wednesday of each month. The Farmers Market opens for the season on Wednesday, June 2 and is held in the public parking lot at the corner of Sixth Street and Stroming Road and opens promptly at 5 p.m.

The theme for the Master Gardeners booth for the opening session will be “Kids plant a seed and watch it grow.” All children who wish to participate will be instructed and helped to plant a seed in a small container. The children may choose from several types of vegetable or flower seeds. They can then take the plant home and watch it grow.

The Master Gardeners, part of the University of California Cooperative extension, hope to encourage a love of gardening in the children who participate.

Future dates and themes for the Master Gardeners booth will be announced later.

For further information call the Master Gardeners office at 966-2417.
