Monsignor Joseph C. Barnes, former pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mariposa, died in May. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John's Cathedral in Fresno on May 14.

Since many local residents were not able to attend, a memorial mass is being held in Mariposa, on Saturday May 29, at 10 a.m. for everyone in the area who remembers this kind and gentle man who served as pastor at St. Joseph's from 1988-94. Following the service a luncheon will be provided by the St. Joseph's Ladies Guild in the Parish Hall. All are welcome.
