In the late innings, after leading 5-2 in the top of the third, Mariposa's varsity Grizzlies lost to Marysville, 6-5, in the Sac-Joaquin Section VI playoffs in Galt Saturday evening.

That set up a showdown at the same location next Thursday. The second round of the playoffs is a 2-out-of-3 series. If the Grizzlies can win the first game, they can force a doubleheader to reach the section championship.
