Festival promises fine art, wine and food

The Mariposa Rotary Club’s sixth annual Rotary Fine Art and Wine Festival will be held this Saturday May 22, on the grounds of the historic Mariposa County Courthouse. The event is a gathering of California's finest wineries. It runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Some of the wineries attending this year are Mt. Bullion Vineyard, Silver Fox, Chappell Vineyards and Butterfly Creek from Mariposa, Keenan from St. Helena, Idle Hour from Madera County and Zucca from Calaveras County. New this year Savoury’s Restaurant will be offering selected wines from its extensive wine list and Pioneer Market will pour selected wines from its list of favorites. Plus the Mariposa Brewing Company will also be on site for tasting.

The juried art show features top artists of the region. From paintings to photography, from pottery to jewelry, hats to spice rubs, there is sure to be something for everyone. Adra Holland is the featured artist this year.

Also new this year is the “Small Wonders” exhibit. This is a collection of over 70 small original art pieces donated by artists from all over the country to support the Mariposa Rotary Club’s Community Gifting program.

BB’s Catering and Sal’s Mexican Restaurant will be creating treats while live music from Pacific Vibes keeps the party going all day.

Entrance to the festival is free. For $10, participants are able to purchase a commemorative 2010 wine glass and tasting tickets.
