True servant

We would like to recommend Doug Binnewies for County Sheriff. For the past nine years we have worked with Doug as a soccer coach, soccer parent, and undersheriff. Doug has consistently displayed to our family the value of honesty and integrity, a good work ethic, and a passion for helping kids achieve their best through sports and community involvement (plus, anyone who has controlled a group of 4-yearolds with soccer balls knows how much command and control it takes.)

Doug and his family, like ourselves, value outdoor physical activities to raise our kids with a healthy lifestyle. We know that as sheriff, Doug will support the efforts of parents in Mariposa to provide our kids with fun and safe outdoor activities, from making sure spectators on the sidelines are managed to being an advocate for more fields and sports opportunites for our kids.

Sometimes public servants forget that the word "serve" is in their title. We know Doug would not. Being a soccer coach doesn't qualify anyone to be sheriff, but Doug's leadership in youth sports is another example of his volunteer spirit and passion for community service. In giving to Mariposa as both a member of the sheriff's department and as a volunteer, Doug shows that he truly loves and appreciates it. We would do well to have him running the sheriff's department.
