May 22 will mark an unofficial kick-off to the summer season for the Mariposa County Parks and Recreation Department. That night, the department will host a free movie night in the Mariposa Town Park. The department will be screening “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” on a giant movie screen. The movie will begin around 8:30 p.m.

There is plenty to do before the movie starts, though. Free swimming, family games and concessions begin at 5 p.m. There will be a raffle with prizes like water park and zoo tickets. Tickets are being pre-sold now and can be obtained by calling 966-2498.
