Fine Art and Wine Festival nears
The community can look forward to May 22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and experience all the new happenings at the sixth annual Rotary Fine Art and Wine Festival. A spectacular gathering of California's finest wineries highlighting their favorites on the historic Mariposa Courthouse lawn location. Wine enthusiastic will grab their glass and start swirling and sipping while having the opportunity to ask the winemaker questions on everything in the wine making process from grapes to glass.
Some of the wineries attending this year are Mt. Bullion Vineyard, Silver Fox, Chappell Vineyards and Butterfly Creek from Mariposa, Keenan from St. Helena, Idle Hour from Madera County and Zucca from Calaveras County. New this year Savoury’s Restaurant will be offering selected wines from its extensive wine list and Pioneer Market will pour selected wines from its list of favorites. Plus the Mariposa Brewing Company will also be on site for tasting.
The juried art show featuring top artists of the region is the perfect setting to appreciate the one-of-a-kind creations while chatting with the artists who are presenting their original works. From paintings to photography, from pottery to jewelry, hats to spice rubs, there is sure to be something for everyone. Adra Holland is the featured artist this year.
Also new this year is the “Small Wonders” exhibit. This is a collection of over 70 small original art pieces donated by artists from all over the country to support the Mariposa Rotary Club’s Community Gifting program. Viewers are able to buy raffle tickets in anticipation of winning the artworks they are interested in.
The show is currently on display at Westamerica Bank located at 5121 Highway 140 and at the Mariposa County Administration Building at 5100 Bullion Street.
BB’s Catering and Sal’s Mexican Restaurant will be creating treats while live music from Pacific Vibes keeps the party going all day.
Entrance to the festival is free. For $10, participants are able to purchase a commemorative 2010 wine glass and tasting tickets.
