Loren “Slim” Koontz
Loren “Slim” Glenn Koontz was born Oct. 29, 1936, in Fort Benton, Mont. to parents Oscar and Nila Koontz. Slim passed away on April 24, at his residence with his family in Mariposa, at the age of 73.
Mr. Koontz was a Navy and Marine veteran for seven years. Slim worked for Mariposa County School District as a bus driver for 20 years. He retired as a bus driver in 1996. After retirement he spent a lot of time with his family and enjoying traveling during the summer months and attending school sporting events. He was also very talented, he could build just about anything out of wood. He would often make things for his family.
The last year of his life was spent with his family. He was very close with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were blessed to have known him. Slim will continue to live in all of our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Evelyn Mildred Koontz of Mariposa; two sons, Alan Morehouse and his wife Sandy of Mariposa, Carl Morehouse and his wife Lou Lou of Ft. Louis, Wash.; grandchildren, Samantha Bull and her husband Rodney, C.W. Morehouse, Jessica Morehouse, Ashley Morehouse and Tristan Morehouse; great-grandchildren, Madison Bull and Rusty Bull.
Slim’s wishes were to be cremated. A family get-together at his residence will be held at a later date.
