Nearly 20,000 pot plants eradicated

Count may be a record

On May 7, Mariposa Sheriff’s Deputies in conjunction with the Mariposa County Probation Department, United States Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management eradicated two illegal marijuana cultivation sites in the Greeley Hill area of Mariposa County.

Although both gardens contained campsites, no suspects were apprehended during the eradication efforts. A total of 19,323 live marijuana plants were removed from the ground.

For the complete story and the on-going efforts to remove marijuana gardens from public lands, see the May 13 edition of the Mariposa Gazette.

Let us send the cartels and

Let us send the cartels and illegal aliens cultivating in our own back yards back across the border. It is long over due to make marijuana legal! The profits would be phenomenal!! There will always be those that can't control there use of substances whether it is legal or not. "We The People" voted for it's legalization, and we demand that our vote count!!!!

The reason they do not

The reason they do not apprehend the gardeners is because they do not want trouble with cartels. You start arresting and possible killing one of the groweres may put local deputies in cross hairs of these growers. Or a lonely hiker or other user of public lands that may stumble upon gardens. Best solution is to legalize this crap and take the profit out. Personally I do not like this idea, but it would work. The only other option is death penalty for drug pushers and growers.fredradonic@sti.net

Why not sell those plants to

Why not sell those plants to legal medical use distribution companies to pay for those operations? And why is not somebody hanging out to catch those growers before you made this public?
