Gazette Photo by Dan Tucker.A major traffic collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning involving at least three vehicles, sending multiple victims to the hospital and killing one driver in a large SUV with Texas license plates.

Bootjack Fire Captain Ruby Pearson, one of the first emergency responders on the scene at Highway 49 South and Bootjack Lane, called the incident a multiple casualty incident (MCI). Two medi-flight helicopters were summoned to John C. Fremont Hospital, and traffic was back up in both directions for better than an hour.

At the time of this report, details are sketchy, but at least one adult male, one adult female, and two young girls were being transported for medical attention and treatment. The "jaws of life" were used by recuers on the large SUV that collided head on with a late model pick-up, but that driver was already deceased. The driver of the pick-up appeared to have sustained serious injuries.
