A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated May 3, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mariposa for Mabel Maude “Gay” Rowney, who was born August 20, 1917 in Elk River, Idaho.

She died April

23 in Mariposa. She was the widow of Harold J. Rowney and is survived by her children: Beejee Allan, Veronica Gross, Christopher Rowney, Jill Rowney, Teresa Dulberg, Roscoe Rowney, Mark Rowney, Lisa Rowney; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Her gift of music, whimsical poetry, amazing wit, and her appetite for a rousing game of Scrabble enriched all her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Catholic Relief Services, Red Cross or the Father Walsh Memorial Scholarship Fund.
