Myrtle Marie Allen
Myrtle Marie Allen was born November 24, 1915, in Biggs, California to Edward Warner Parsons and Minnie Mae Phillips. Myrtle left on her journey to be with the Lord on April 12, 2010 in Oakhurst.
Myrtle attended Orange High School where she was a star basketball player. As a prominent participant in the Mariposa County Fair she constantly won Best of Show and blue ribbons with her numerous entries. She was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the beach, traveling, gardening and her many friends.
She took an active part in her children and grandchildren‘s lives serving in the PTA and Boy Scouts of America. Upon arriving in Mariposa she became a 4- H leader for the Woodland 4-H where she taught cooking, canning, sewing and crocheting skills to many Mariposa 4-H youth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred Allen; her brother and sister, Joe Parsons and Mary Linge; as well as two grandsons, Andrew Allen and Bradley Allen.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Gary and Pat Allen, Paul Allen, John and Shari Allen, George and Lydia Allen, David and Dannita Williams. Myrtle also leaves 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two nieces and a nephew. She will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a celebration of her life at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 2 at the Senior Activity Center, 5246 Spriggs Lane, Mariposa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Woodland 4-H, Mariposa Golden Agers or New Life Christian Fellowship Ministries.
