ICES sponsors behavior workshop

“How do I get my child to behave?” Every parent, teacher, day care provider, babysitter, or anyone who has cared for a child has had this question cross their minds.

Infant/Child Enrichment Services has partnered with First 5 to bring Laurie Prusso, BA HDEV, Med, CPDA to Mariposa to address this prevalent question and to teach caregivers how they can effectively respond to their children’s behaviors. The workshop, entitled, “Guidance and Discipline: What is Effective and Why?” will be held at the government center on Saturday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prusso will show how to approach behavior management from a positive standpoint, teaching children what to do rather than what not to do and will also provide insight into common motivations for a child’s misbehavior. She is a trained certified positive discipline associate and an expert on developmentally appropriate practice. She focuses on not just behavior change, but improving the quality of home and classroom environments for children and their families and caregivers.

First 5 and ICES off the workshop free of charge. Those interested in attending the workshop need to call ICES to sign up at 966-4474. More information about Prusso can be found on her Web site at www.teacherlaurie.com.
